More about Dark Mofo
Dark Mofo is a festival of art and music, celebrating cold and dark. The Dark Mofo Winter Feast draws on age-old traditions of winter solstice celebrations and savours the core of these: family and community; feasting and produce; singing and music; subversion and masquerade; rebirth and renewal; fire and life.
Dark Mofo 2018 will feature a number of large-scale public artworks; a Winter Feast on the waterfront as well as the usual unusual assortment of music, theatre, performance and exhibitions.
It all builds up to a celebration of the longest night, finishing with the annual Nude Solstice Swim – which attracted more than 700 people into the chilly River Derwent last year – at sunrise on June 22.
The 2018 Dark Mofo events program runs over 2 weekends, so there are plenty of opportunities to travel to Hobart for a weekend getaway. Or, consider staying in Tasmania for longer and venture further afield once you have experienced Dark Mofo.
