Dark Mofo

9-22 June 2023

Dark Mofo runs every year over the winter solstice period, and is an engaging mix of live music, art displays and performances across the city. The city of Hobart and beyond get behind the Paint the Town Red campaign, which sees local businesses light up in red and display red decorations, as a nod towards the popular festival. The Winter Feast is a delicious highlight, the Ogoh-Ogoh’s burning is a sight to see, and finishing off the festival there are the brave folk who partake in the nude solstice swim.

Festival of Voices

26 June - 9 July 2023

Festival of Voices is a celebration of the power of song, with the purpose of improving lives through singing. Attracting many from across the country and world to come and participate, with a variety of vocal styles. Catering to all ages from young to old, families are invited to attend group singing events like the iconic Big Sing event at Mac Point. Warm the heart and soul with a good ol’ sing-a-long at this Winter festival.

Huon Valley Mid-winter Festival

14-16 July 2023

The Huon Valley Mid-winter Festival is all about celebrating the area’s apple-picking history. Held at the Huon Valley’s popular apple shed, Willie Smith’s, the weekend has a variety of events in store, all in the name of banishing the evil spirits from the apple orchards to bring on a successful harvest. The Big Willie Burning Man is the Friday night feature, the Wassail on the Saturday, and family day on the Sunday. From folk-funk bands, to costume competitions, to storytellers; don your finest pagan outfit, pull on the gumboots, and warm up with a mulled cider.
